Rifling through my journal I ran across a bunch of potential blog posts that have not yet been used. Most are destined for our sailing blog, some are just for me and will stay that way. However, I did run across these small words of encouragement. I can’t remember the […]
When to taper? Tapering down during training to peak for a specific event is tried and true. It also works for freediving. Those of us don’t live near deep water, are competing a few times a year (or even less) and need to maximize every stage of training have to […]
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. I wish I could tell you that I’ve tried it all but one of the things that really gets my goat are diet fads. All manner of freedivers-at various levels of experience-have imparted their dietary ‘wisdom’ to me at one time or another. […]
In the twelve years since PFI’s [Performance Freediving International] inception and the seventeen years since its first concept was developed, we continue to be the industry leader in the sport and recreation of Freediving. Not only have we in all our iterations worked with seven athletes to 22 world records, […]
Some answers to frequently asked questions about freediving courses: 1. Am I too old for this sport? Ask Russian freediver, Natalia Molchanova the same question and see what she says. The 51 year old athlete holds all the self powered discipline world records including CWT, FIM, CNF, DYN, DNF and […]
Dr. John Shedd is a spearo out of Palm Beach, Florida, PFI safety diver and friend of ours. We met him through the PFI competition, Deja Blue where he provides the advanced medical support for the event. He is also soft spoken, loves coffee, is in great shape and is […]
Comic Relief. A humorous break by Grant Hogan. All bad language by Grant Hogan has been replaced by this: *Evolve* I was going through my computer deleting stuff and I found this. I guess I wrote it after that night at Jai Alai. I thought you might enjoy it. Please […]
Invasive. Likely the only word that comes to mind when you think of the lionfish. Originally indigenous to the Pacific and Indian Oceans, Ren and I have witnessed their presence as far reaching as the NC coast, our stomping grounds, down to the Bahamas, over to Honduras, Belize, South Florida, […]
Evolve’s COVID-19 Update and Action Plan:
Evolve Freediving plans on maintaining our regular schedule of courses and events. As of now we have a classroom location, confined water location and open water options for all of our courses. We will run courses live, in person, unless otherwise indicated. There will be some small modifications to our courses to keep everyone comfortable including the addition of face masks where appropriate, social distancing where possible and hand sanitizer between sessions.
As of now, we expect a lot of great diving this summer, however, if another quarantine is mandated we will, of course, need to adjust our expectations and modality. For any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email [email protected]
Safe diving!
